Ga. DNR, Ducks Unlimited sign wetlands restoration deal

The Altamaha Wildlife Management Area will receive a significant amount of wetland restoration work in the coming five years, thanks to an agreement signed by the state Department of Natural Resources and Ducks Unlimited.

“Working with wetland restoration experts from DU, we will restore and enhance all of the managed wetland units on Altamaha WMA,” said John Bowers, DNR chief of game management, in a statement. “Altamaha is a very important area for waterfowl, shorebirds and wading birds and a preeminent public waterfowl hunting area.
