The “Keeping it Wild” nearshore artificial reef out of Port O’Connor, Texas, is a partnership between Texas Parks and Wildlife Foundation (TPWF), Coastal Conservation Association Texas (CCA Texas) and CCA’s National Habitat Program, Building Conservation Trust. Deployment started at the end of April 2017, and a total of 500 concrete pyramids will be deployed at the site. The “Keeping it Wild” reef is part of a 381-acre site in the Gulf of Mexico. CCA Texas provided funding for the permitting of the site. In the end, BCT provided $400,000, CCA Texas provided $200,000 and TPWD provided $400,000 to the project.
